The Webster Family

Bertram Webster Farms

Vernon Webster moved to Middleton in 1948 where he began his farming operation. His two sons Bertram and George joined him with his day-to-day duties. As the boys matured, George decided to venture out on his own and explore other career options. Bertie continued to work with his father on the family farm. As time passed George and Bertie traded roles; George returned to farm with his father, and Bertie farmed with Eric C. Robinson for the next 9 years.

After working along side of one of the powerhouses of the community, Bertie had always liked the idea of owning his own business. At the time there was a program offered by the government that sponsored a grant as an incentive to start a farm. Bertie was quick to take the opportunity and begin his own farm – Bertram Webster Farms.

He is now farming with his son Jason. They farm 950 acres of potatoes, barley, and hay and services to the table and processing markets.

Bertie has won the Soil and Water Conservation award for the province. He has also been the chairman of the Prince Edward Island Potato Board as well as the chairman of the Potato Producer Association (on 2 different occasions).

Bertram Webster Farms and Webster Farms Inc. work hand in hand with the daily farming operations.
